2014 AIMS Annual Conference

The Arizona Imaging and Microanalysis Society hosts an annual conference every spring. This annual meeting provides a forum for members to discuss research and exchange ideas, as well as an opportunity for learning about new techniques and concepts.

At other times during the year the society sponsors or co–sponsors special seminars on topics relevant to the society’s membership at their host institutions. At the conclusion of the annual conference, AIMS conducts an annual meeting in which board member elections are held for the upcoming year. All members are invited to attend.

Once you sign up as an AIMS member you can register for the conference in the member’s area. Undergraduate and Graduate Students/PostDocs are invited to submit an abstract and compete in the poster competition for cash prizes. Deadline to submit an abstract is March 14, 2014. For more information see the Poster Session Announcement.

March 20, 2014
Old Main Basha Library
Arizona State University Tempe, AZ

This year, in conjunction with the conference, we will be hosting a half day workshop on Thursday March 20th, 2014. By popular demand we will offer the Digital Images and their Ethical Use in Science workshop. This workshop will review what is required to obtain good images as well as the terminology and concepts associated with digital imagery. A particular focus of this workshop will address the accepted limitations of image manipulation and the ethical responsibility of presenting and publishing image data.

This presentation provides four hours of training that can be applied to the ethics training required by NSF and NIH funded grants. A record of attendance will be collected for each attendee. Workshop registration is free and includes lunch but is separate from the conference registration. AIMS_Image Ethics Workshop
